BLOIS
Blois was our first stop from Paris, a really cool little old town about 5 hrs south.
Very quiet and we managed to find a place to stay straight away on arrival. Heaps of parks and gardens with very hilly terrain giving awesome views of the town and surrounding countryside. This was our intro to small town France.
Main park, this was our spot for brekky, cheese and baguettes.
Lots of old Chateaux in the vicinity of Blois, this is the most well known and grandiose of them all; Chateau Chambord, about 1hrs drive from Blois.
LA ROCHELLE
This little port town was our first stop at the water. We picked this town at random off the map because it was in between Blois and Bordeaux. It was way bigger than Blois, and although the girls hated it on arrival, once we found a cool little studio apartment above the pub to stay in, everyone was pretty happy.
Heaps of markets, street performers and stuff to see down at the marina.
Ended up extending our stay for another night and Ange cooked up pasta with prawns which we ate with a few drinks while watching a busy Saturday night from our first floor window.
Awesome food markets also, we got the best fresh prawns, salad, cheese, chorizo and fresh bread, the whole time massacaring the language whilst trying to order. Our French has come on in leaps and bounds since then, but we are still very much amatuers.
Cool, next stop, Bordeaux, see you then.
