Croatia, Split...

On the bus again!! We hopped on in Sarajevo, really happy with our time there, and ready to continue our former-Yugoslavia experience in Croatia.

I had a run-in with the conductor, so the day didnt start well, but we got into Split earlier than we expected and checked in to a nice double room no probs.

Croatia has a lot of Italian influence, and Split had a lot of Venetian elements that were instantly apparent. We were only in Split for a few days, so we just went exploring on foot.

Angie in one of the squares, reminded me heaps of Venice.

Underground, the reamins of the Roman structures are now a craft market.

The bell tower in the center of town.

The view of the town from the top of the bell tower on a beautiful day.

Split had a fantastic fresh produce market, right in the center of town. We went there most days for Burek and fruit and veggies. The croatians shop a bit like the Italians do, they head down to the market everyday and buy stuff for the night.

Everything was really good and cheap. We got fleeced by an old Italian lady selling figs. She sold us more figs than anyone could possibly need and wouldnt take no for an answer. Haha, we sort of knew we were being fleeced, but couldnt help buying her stuff anyway.

Angie at the waterfront having a G&T.

More Roman ruins. This place did something clever with the sun, but I can't remember what it was.

The water in Croatia is the best colour.

Local.
Me enjoying the sunshine on the water front..

We booked a ferry out of Split and headed south to the island of Hvar...
See you there.
