From Venice, we headed South-West to Bologna. We arrived in Bologna for a night's stay. Bologna is one of Italy's smaller cities, with a big uni student population. The whole town is built around the main piazza, which is huge! On one side of the piazza is the church, that was only ever half finished... The piazza was pretty quiet compared to those we had seen in other cities - only a couple of small quiet cafes alongside it. Matt and I had an Italian Spumante at one (nicer than the Australian version).
We all went out for dinner, and all ordered Bolognese, mandatory on a trip to Bologna. Yum!

The half finished church - you can see the marble facade is only partially completed. It's the fifth largest basilica in the world.

Statue of Neptune in the Piazza that Matt took a shine to (hmmm?)

"Deli" of the piazza-yummo

Due Torri. Bologna used to have heaps of towers like these, attached to old family palazzi. There are only a few left around the city now.
